The Point has been saved. Now let’s care for it, together.

At the southern end of Topsail Island lies a remarkable 150-acre coastal landscape known to generations of locals simply as The Point.

For years, our community came together to protect this special place. In Spring 2025, the North Carolina Coastal Land Trust purchased and permanently conserved The Point.

Conserve The Point helped rally that community, supporting the successful Save The South End campaign and helping raise more than $1.6 million from nearly 800 community donations toward the $8 million needed to protect The Point.

Together, we accomplished something extraordinary.

Recognized for Our Conservation Leadership

In 2026, the North Carolina Coastal Federation honored Conserve The Point with its Pelican Award for:

“Dedicated Leadership in Protecting and Stewarding the South End of Topsail Island.”

We are deeply honored by this recognition. The award belongs, in many ways, to the community that came together to protect The Point and continues to care about its future.

Our Next Chapter

Protecting The Point was an extraordinary conservation accomplishment. But conservation does not end when the land is protected.

Now comes the next chapter: stewardship, education, and community connection.

The Topsail Nature Preserve is part of our community’s future. Conserve The Point is committed to helping people understand this remarkable coastal landscape, experience it responsibly, and become connected to its protection.

Stewardship

We will support community involvement, volunteer efforts, responsible use, and the ongoing care of the Preserve.

Education

We will help people understand the remarkable habitats, wildlife, history, and ecological importance of The Point through programs, educational materials, and interpretation

Community Connection

We will create opportunities for residents and visitors to experience The Point, learn from it, and become part of the community that cares for it.
